Silas Marner is a stage play written by Mark Wheeller, based on the book by George Eliot/Mary Ann Evans. It was brilliantly performed by The Gatehouse Youth Theatre. Music was by Olivia Rose Dean.
I directed a film version of the production. It was a challenging project – we had four cameras and we filmed multiple nights. We had things to overcome like someone moving a microphone midway through the production, so that half a night was unusable without massive amounts of work. It came off in the end and shows just how much went into this production, and how talented everybody was.
Included on the crew was Moe Acharki, who would go on to direct The Haunted House Hotel and The Cost of the Crown.
