People (And Animals!)
Here’s a small selection of my photographs of people (and, more importantly, animals). These are examples of the kinds of portraiture photos I take (and more importantly… animals!).
We’ve become surrounded by pictures of people. More often than not, you don’t know them. Everything there is to know is contained in this tiny image file, uploaded onto social media and let loose on the world. Open Instagram and you’ll be overwhelmed by the sheer amount of selfies on offer. This is a unique time for photographers. They’re not up against other photographers, they’re up against the subjects themselves.
What makes good art is the same no matter the format – quality storytelling. What story is the photo telling? What does it make you feel? These aren’t important in a selfie, where the end goal is to look as presentable as possible. These things are very important for photographs. The play of the light, the mix between subject and set-up… It doesn’t happen by accident.
I’m proud of my pictures of people (and ani- well, you get the point). Each one tells a story.
