I Think I’m Gonna Kill Myself is a gentle comedy following two friends who get lost in the woods after one decides she’s going to kill herself.
I struggle with this film. It is packed with potential. The cast were tremendous. The location was lovely. The script was above average (and I’ll release a version one day). But the film? It didn’t land.
The camera work and sound are poor. The things you need to get right before the story and cast can shine weren’t right. We built the finished film around odd moments that were in focus.
It was an expensive technical disaster.
So why is it on here? Why is this disappointing film still in pride of place on my website?
Because the potential is still there – I enjoy the characters and their world. I have happy memories of the shoot and enormous respect for the cast.
I Think I’m Gonna Kill Myself was a finalist in the Student World Impact Festival. Ultimately, I never pushed it harder than that. It just wasn’t the film I wanted it to be.
